Barefoot Resort & Golf
Barefoot Resort is one of the most recognized addresses in North Myrtle Beach, built around four championship golf courses and stretching along the Intracoastal Waterway directly across from Barefoot Landing.
What sets Barefoot apart is the range. Buyers will find single-family homes on the golf courses, waterway-view condominiums, and townhomes at a variety of price points — all sharing the same resort amenities. Owners in the Barefoot Resort Residential Association have private access to an oceanfront beach cabana with gated parking, plus a seasonal beach shuttle.

Barefoot Resort Golf
Barefoot Resort is built around four championship golf courses, designed by Greg Norman, Davis Love III, Tom Fazio and Pete Dye. All four opened on the same day in 2000 — something no other modern golf resort had attempted — and each plays as a distinctly different course.
Owning at Barefoot does not include golf. The Love, the Norman and the Fazio are open to the public, and an owner without a membership books a tee time and pays per round. The Dye is the only semi-private facility at Barefoot — playing it means holding a Dye Club membership, or booking a tee time and paying to play. A Dye Club membership also covers the three championship courses, so it is the one that opens everything.
Membership does not come with a home, including in Dye Estates. If a seller offers one with the house, confirm in writing that it is transferable — plenty are not. The Dye has its own clubhouse, with private member areas, a four-star dining room, a fitness complex and the Dye Villas.
For many owners the golf is the reason they bought here. For others it is simply the setting — fairway and lake views from a home or condo without ever picking up a club.
Four Championship Courses
Norman, Love, Fazio and Dye designs. Three are public; the Dye is semi-private. Golf is by membership or paid tee time.
Private Beach Cabana
Oceanfront cabana with gated parking and seasonal shuttle for association owners.
Deep Water Marina
Full-service marina on the Intracoastal Waterway with boat and watersport rentals.
Spend a day at the Barefoot Resort Oceanfront Cabana!
Barefoot Resort Beach Cabana
One of the most valuable things about owning at Barefoot is beach access without owning oceanfront. The Barefoot Resort Beach Cabana sits at 4611 South Ocean Boulevard, just south of 46th Avenue, and is reserved for owners in the Barefoot Resort Residential Association.
The cabana offers a furnished sundeck overlooking the Atlantic, restrooms and showers, a refreshment area, and private gated parking — which in North Myrtle Beach in July is worth more than it sounds. A seasonal shuttle runs between the resort and the cabana, so owners can leave the car behind entirely.
The Residents Club is the owners’ private amenity center at Barefoot Resort.
Barefoot Resort Residents Club
The Residents Club is the private amenity center reserved for Barefoot Resort owners, with a pool, a fitness center and tennis courts. It is the amenity owners use most, because it is the one built for everyday life rather than for a round of golf or a day at the beach.
How close a home sits to it varies by neighborhood. Coquina Pointe is adjacent to it, with the closest homes directly across the street. For anyone who intends to actually use a gym or a pool rather than own one on paper, that proximity is worth weighing when comparing neighborhoods.
The saltwater pool sits beside the marina on the Intracoastal Waterway.
Barefoot Resort Marina & Waterway
Barefoot Resort fronts the Intracoastal Waterway, and its full-service deep water marina gives owners somewhere to keep a boat, launch a kayak or rent a jet ski for the afternoon. Waterway-view condominiums at Yacht Club Villas, Edgewater and North Tower look directly over the marina and the water.
The marina is also home to one of the largest pools in the area — an ionized saltwater pool holding roughly 356,000 gallons, with a bar and grill alongside it.
Beyond the water, a five-mile walkway circles the resort and is used daily by walkers, runners and cyclists.
Barefoot Landing & North Myrtle Beach
Barefoot Resort sits directly across the waterway from Barefoot Landing, and it is genuinely one of the best things about living here. More than 100 shops and restaurants line the boardwalks around the lake, from fresh seafood and steakhouses to casual spots you can walk to for a drink.
What sets Barefoot Landing apart is the entertainment. Two concert venues sit right there — the House of Blues and the Alabama Theatre — bringing touring acts and live shows within a few minutes of your front door year round. Greg Norman's Australian Grille sits on the waterway alongside them.
The rest of North Myrtle Beach is minutes away, and Myrtle Beach proper is a short drive south. For buyers who want resort amenities without being isolated from everything else, the location is hard to beat.
Barefoot Landing Homes and Condos for Sale
Buyers often search for homes or condos for sale at Barefoot Landing, and the two names get used as if they were the same place. They are not. Barefoot Landing is the outdoor attraction on the east bank of the waterway: restaurants, a brewery restaurant, shops, small rides for the kids, and fireworks over the water every Monday night at 10 pm through the summer. Nobody lives at Barefoot Landing.
The homes, condos and townhomes people mean when they search for Barefoot Landing real estate are in Barefoot Resort, directly across the Intracoastal Waterway. Every property on this page is a Barefoot Resort listing, and the waterway-view buildings such as Yacht Club Villas, Edgewater and North Tower are the ones that look straight across at Barefoot Landing and its Monday-night fireworks.
Property Taxes at Barefoot Resort
Barefoot Resort is inside the city limits of North Myrtle Beach, so the tax bill carries the city millage on top of the Horry County and school rates. A primary residence is assessed at 4% and a second home at 6%, and the taxable value resets to your purchase price when you close. On a $350,000 primary residence in North Myrtle Beach the 2025 bill is about $1,499 a year; the same property as a second home or rental is about $4,540. See my Horry County Property Tax page for how the rates work, or run your own price through my property tax calculator.
Why Buyers Choose Barefoot Resort
Barefoot appeals to buyers who want more than a house. The combination of four championship courses, a private oceanfront cabana, a deep water marina and Barefoot Landing across the water creates a lifestyle that very few communities on the Grand Strand can match at the same price points.
The most important thing to understand before you buy is how different the neighborhoods are from one another. A golf course townhome, a waterway-view condominium and a single-family home in a gated section are three genuinely different products, with different HOA structures, rental rules and ownership costs. Comparing them properly matters more here than in most communities.
