Myrtle Beach Houses for Sale
Myrtle Beach is the largest market on the coast by a wide margin. There are usually more than 1,000 Myrtle Beach houses for sale and close to 1,900 condos, and the spread is enormous: from about $150,000 for an older home off Highway 501 to $7 million on the oceanfront. Most Myrtle Beach houses list between $300,000 and $700,000, which is where Carolina Forest, Market Common, the golf communities and the newer neighborhoods along the bypass sit. About 110 houses are listed above $1 million and nearly 40 above $2 million, almost all of them oceanfront, on the Intracoastal Waterway, or in Grande Dunes and the Dunes Club.
Condos are the other half of the market and the affordable half: roughly half of the condos for sale in Myrtle Beach are under $200,000, most of those oceanfront or ocean-view resort units, and a two- or three-bedroom in a golf or lake community usually lands between $200,000 and $350,000. The luxury oceanfront buildings run from the mid $600,000s to $5.5 million.
Myrtle Beach Rated #1 Place to Move
Myrtle Beach has been long characterized as one of the best places to vacation in the United States, but what many don't realize is that it is also one of the best places to live. Residents of Myrtle Beach take pride in this community's embodiment of acceptance and spirituality, both clearly displayed in its many celebrations, parades, and in its arts and entertainment culture.

Entertainment and amenity centers are a contributing factor to why buyers choose some of these luxury home communities. For example, The Bluffs and Plantation Point both have direct Intracoastal Waterway access for you to enjoy boating and other water sports.
The Dunes Club is another, set between the Atlantic and a Robert Trent Jones golf course that has hosted the PGA TOUR since 2024. Some of the most luxurious homes are those that are oceanfront — you will find Luxury Oceanfront Homes for Sale throughout Myrtle Beach.
Myrtle Beach Condos
Condos make up just over half of real estate in the Myrtle Beach area. There are many reasons why a condo is the selection of choice for those searching for a property in the Myrtle Beach area. Condos are available in many settings such as oceanfront or ocean view, a few blocks from the beach, on a golf course, on the waterway, in a gated community or a centrally located condo to live a more maintenance-free lifestyle.
Kingston Plantation is one of the larger condominium communities in the city, with five oceanfront towers plus villas and low-rise buildings across 145 acres.
Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Condos
Much of the oceanfront skyline of Myrtle Beach is speckled with high rise condominium resorts, and every one of them is on my Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Condos page. Most of the condos are privately owned as either second homes or investment properties. There are few that claim their primary residence as an oceanfront condo in Myrtle Beach.
The advantage of having an oceanfront investment condo is that the properties rent to vacationers more frequently. Some of the golf course condo complexes in the Myrtle Beach area offer vacation rentals, but don't bring in nearly the number that some of the oceanfront resorts do.
Vista del Mar in Grande Dunes and the oceanfront towers at Kingston Plantation are two popular Luxury Oceanfront condo choices worth consideration.
Worth knowing before you buy: a second home or investment condo is assessed at 6% rather than the 4% primary residence rate, and it does not qualify for the school operating exemption. See Horry County Property Tax for what that means in dollars.
Myrtle Beach Golf Course Condos
There are several golf course communities to choose from in the Myrtle Beach area and up and down the coast. Some of the more popular ones selling today are Magnolia Pointe and many of the golf course condos of Barefoot Resort.
Most of the condo complexes on the golf courses allow the owner to lease the properties to vacationers, and many have onsite or nearby rental companies to handle this for you. Golf course condos are typically more spacious and the association fees are less than condos on the ocean.

Why Buyers Choose Myrtle Beach
People used to move here to retire. Plenty still do — Myrtle Beach remains one of the fastest-growing metros in the country for residents 65 and over — but the buyer pool is much broader now. Families escaping northern winters, remote workers who can live anywhere, and second-home owners who eventually make the beach their primary address all show up in the same market.
What holds it together is the cost side. Low property taxes, no local income tax, Social Security exempt from state income tax, and home prices well below comparable coastal markets further south. That combination is why the growth numbers look the way they do.
